Dr Amanda-Jane George is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the CQUniversity School of Business and Law, Australia. She holds an LLB (1st Hons) (Bond) (JF Kearney Gold Medal) and LLM (London) (Derby-Bryce Prize). Her PhD (University of Queensland) publication in patent law was cited by the Australian High Court.
Dr George has expertise in intellectual property law and licensing, competition law and contract law. She has particular interests in government-nonprofit contracting, and relational contracting in university-industry R&D collaborations. Dr George’s scholarship interests include the use of social media in online legal education.
Prior to joining CQUniversity Dr George was a Senior Lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology School of Business, and Lecturer in Law at the University of Queensland TC Beirne School of Law. During this time she was also a Consultant at a major Brisbane law firm advising on a wide range of intellectual property matters, and winning a high-profile trade mark case against the McDonalds Corporation.
Dr George has written extensively on intellectual property and contracting matters in respected journals including Nature Biotechnology, European Competition Law Review and Public Law Review, as well as practitioner publications and multiparty submissions to numerous Law Reform reports. She has a co-authored book, Licensing Technology.
