Annette Gough is a professor in the School of Education and the Centre for Urban Research, School of Global, Urban and Social Studies at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. She was previously Head of the School of Education at RMIT and has also worked in the Faculty of Education, Deakin University, and is/was an adjunct/visiting professor at universities in Canada, South Africa and Hong Kong.

She has been Chief Investigator on numerous research projects for the Australian and Victorian governments and for non-government bodies, and worked with UNESCO, UNEP, and UNESCO-UNEVOC on several research and development projects.

She has over 150 publications – books, chapters, and articles as well as curriculum materials – in her areas of expertise. Her research interests span environmental, sustainability, and science education, research methodologies, posthuman, and gender studies.

She is currently engaged in research related to child-centred disaster risk reduction and resilience education (DRRRE) and developing a strategy for DRRRE in schools.

Annette holds a PhD in environmental education from Deakin University, and a B.Sc(Ed) and M.Ed from the University of Melbourne. She is a life fellow of the Australian Association for Environmental Education, and Chair of the King and Amy O’Malley Trust scholarship advisory committee.
