Art Martinez is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Research, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
He is currently associated with the Queensland node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (Life Course Centre). In the Life Course Centre, he focuses on methodological research on measurement of poverty, inequality and economic mobility.
He has previously worked as an applied statistician for international organisations such as the Asian Development Bank. While working at ADB, he helped in improving the statistical design of various household surveys in developing countries.
He is a strong advocate of using statistics for evidence-based policy. He is an active member of various statistical organisations. Currently he serves as one of the assistant chairs of the Social Statistics Section of the Statistical Society of Australia.
