Jie Chen

Jie Chen works on transnational social movements and Greater China. He received Ph.D from the Australian National University in 1995, and currently teaches at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the University of Western Australia.

He has published in various refereed journals including Asian Survey, The Pacific Review, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, Journal of Contemporary China, China Perspectives, China: An International Journal, Europe-Asia Studies, and Issues & Studies.

His main books include: Foreign Policy of the New Taiwan: Pragmatic Diplomacy in Southeast Asia (London: Edward Elgar, 2002); and Transnational Civil Society in China: intrusion and impact (London: Edward Elgar, 2012). His current research project investigates overseas Chinese democracy movement.
