Chris Banga

Mr Chris Banga holds a post graduate diploma in Economic Policy Analysis from the Papua New Guinea National Research Institute (PNG NRI). He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2015 from the University of Papua New Guinea. From January 2015 to March 2018, he was attached to the PNG NRI as a young researcher under the Development Indicators Research and Economic Policy Research programs.

Banga writes for the PNG NRI in the areas of subnational government, service delivery, economic policy and public resources management. He co-authored the article ‘Solutions to poor service delivery in Papua New Guinea’ published in the journal Asia & the Pacific Policy Studies.

Banga is an alumnus of the Australia-Papua New Guinea Emerging Leaders dialogue and the Young Pacific Leaders program convened at the East-West Centre. He secured a short-term scholarship to participate in the 2018 Pacific Research Colloquium at the Department of Pacific Affairs in the ANU‘s Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs.

He has a keen interest in resource economics and governance, decentralisation and service delivery.
