Daniel Poon

Mr Daniel Poon is an Economist with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and formerly an Economist at United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

He was also formerly a Researcher with the North-South Institute (NSI) in Ottawa, and a Visiting Scholar with the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) in Beijing.

Mr Poon holds a Master’s degree from Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in Chinese and Asian development policy strategies.

He has published various articles and commentaries on these issues, most recently an UNCTAD Discussion Paper, “China’s Development Trajectory: A Strategic Opening for Industrial Policy in the South”.
