Bishop George Browning is President Australia Palestine Advocacy Network.
Until he retired in 2008 Bishop Browning was the Anglican Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn.
His profile as a social justice advocate is well known. In 1993 he chaired “Australians for the abolition of Apartheid in South Africa”, highlighted in a forum he chaired with Gough Whitlam, Bob Hawke and Malcolm Fraser as participants. He has a passion for environmental justice, the subject of his doctoral thesis, Sabbath and the Common Good: Prospects for a New Humanity. In conjunction with Sir William Deane as Governor General and Dr Lowitcha O’Donohue Bishop Browning founded the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture in Barton ACT.
