Professor Hal Kendig serves as Professor of Ageing and Public Policy at ANU in the Centre for Research on Ageing, Health and Wellbeing in the Research School of Population Health.

He is a Chief Investigator of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing (CEPAR). He has led multi-disciplinary research programs funded by the ARC and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC); advised on Living Longer, Living Better reforms; and conducts research and published extensively on healthy ageing and aged and health care services drawing on longitudinal surveys.

Professor Kendig is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and he serves on the editorial boards for a number of Australian and international journals. He previously served as: National Convenor of the ARC/NHMRC Research Network in Ageing Well; Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences University of Sydney; and Director of the ARC Lincoln Gerontology at La Trobe University.

His most recent books are Ageing in Australia: Opportunities and Challenges (edited with Kate O’Loughlin and Colette Browning; Springer, 2017) and Population Ageing and Australia’s Future (edited with John Piggott and Peter McDonald ANU Press, 2016.)
