Heather Booth

Heather Booth is Associate Professor of Demography at The Australian National University, and Associate Investigator of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR). She conducts research in population ageing, demographic futures and social demography.

Heather founded the Journal of Population Research in 2000 and served as Editor-in-Chief until 2006. She is an expert assessor for the Australian Research Council and the European Research Council.

Heather has degrees from the London School of Economics, the University of Southampton and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She began her career at the London School of Economics, and has also worked the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

During an eight-year break in her academic career, Heather worked at the South Pacific Commission providing demographic technical assistance to island nations. She has also worked independently as an international consultant.
