Lei Yu

Lei Yu is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies at University of Melbourne.  Her research interest lies in the social policy, public finance, and governance studies of contemporary China and comparative policy studies.

She has recently conducted research on migrant housing challenges as part of a research project, funded by the Ford Foundation, that examines evolving social policy and practices in the context of China’s ‘new-type’ urbanisation.

Lei holds degrees in international studies, Asian studies, and Chinese public policy studies. Her doctoral thesis investigated the evolution of Chinese affordable housing policy and its effect on improving people’s housing welfare among different social groups
