Lukas Maximilian Mueller is a research associate at the Chair of International Politics at the University of Freiburg, Germany.

His work mainly concerns regional integration and the external relations of regional organisations in Southeast Asia as well as in West Africa. In addition, he has worked as a consultant for the Asia-Europe Foundation, providing capacity building on national Sustainable Development Goals implementation in the CLMV countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam). His research interests include comparative regionalism, interregionalism, EU foreign policy, and sustainable development.
