Marie McAuliffe is a doctoral candidate supported by the Sir Roland Wilson Foundation at the Australian Demographic and Social Research Institute, The Australian National University and is on leave from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
Marie has worked in DIBP’s offices in Canberra, Seoul and Moscow. Marie has led research, analysis and policy teams in DIBP, the Australian Public Service Commission and the Department of Workplace Relations, and has consulted to the International Labor Organization as well as in the private sector. For three years (2012–2014) Marie managed DIBP’s largest research program as well as a research/analytical function on irregular migration.
Marie’s research interests include forced migration, migrant smuggling, migrant decision-making, media representations of migration and enhancing public confidence in international migration.
