Mostafa Shouman is a PhD Scholar at the University of Sydney’s Department of Government and International Relations. He is the strategic policy consultant for the Egyptian Minister of Labour and prior to that he worked in several international development organisations such as the International Labour Organization, the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Development Programme.
He is a fellow at the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law at Stanford University and the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington. His research interests and experience covers public policy, welfare economics and poverty elevation in the Middle East and Egypt in particular.
Since his early career, Shouman has contributed to civil organizations and initiatives advancing local economic development and social justice, particularly in empowering the poor and women to develop their human capital
