Dr Nathanial Matthews is currently the Global Research Coordinator at the CGIAR Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE).
He is a political and environmental scientist with 13 years professional experience across business, education, research and consulting.
His principal interests lie in understanding and mitigating the impacts of political and economic change on people and the environment in developing countries, especially concerning the interconnected challenges in water, energy and food. His regional focus is primarily on Asia and Africa with experience spanning over 20 countries. He has authored over 15 peer reviewed publications and presented at a number of international conferences.
In addition to his role with WLE, Nathanial is a Senior Visiting Fellow at King’s College London, a Visiting Fellow at the UEA Water Security Centre and a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society.
