Philip Hancock is Professor of Work and Organization at Essex Business School, University of Essex, UK. He has a background in sociology and critical philosophy, with degrees from the universities of Nottingham Trent, Warwick and Keele.
Philip has published on a range of topics including organisational aesthetics, gender and embodiment, and the portrayal of management in popular culture. He has combined these, and other interests, into an ongoing study of the organisational dimensions of Christmas, including the importance of Christmas to the global economy, the work of Santa Claus performers, and the impact of Christmas on public services.
He is currently writing a book, imaginatively entitled Organizing Christmas, which is to be published in 2017 by Routledge.
