Rajib Shaw is an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies at Kyoto University, Japan. He is also the Chairperson of SEEDS Asia, a non-profit body, based in Kobe, Japan.
He has worked closely with local communities, NGOs, governments and international organisations, including United Nations, especially in Asian countries. His research interests are: community based disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, urban risk management, and disaster and environmental education.
He is currently the President of the Asian University Network of Environment and Disaster Management [AUEDM], and the co-chair of the UN ISDR Asia Science Technology Academia Advisory Group. Professor Shaw has been published extensively in journals, books and edited volumes.
