Professor Stephen Dovers is a researcher with the Bushfire Co-operative Research Centre and ANU Climate Change Institute, and Emeritus Professor with the Fenner School of Environment and Society in the ANU College of Science.
Steve Dovers was originally trained as an ecologist and natural resource manager, and worked in local government and heritage management. Over time, he studied geography, environmental law and environmental history, and gained a PhD in environmental policy in 1996. He became an academic member of staff at the then Centre for Resource and Environmental Studies at the ANU in 1997.
Since 2009, he has been Director of the Fenner School of Environment and Society at the ANU, and an ANU Public Policy Fellow. His affiliations include: Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia; Co-convener of the Australian Cities Research Network, which convenes the State of Australian Cities Conference series; Honorary Professorial Fellow, Charles Darwin University; Associate editor of the Australasian Journal of Environmental Management. Member, Editorial Board, Global Environmental Change, Local Environments, Environmental Science and Policy, and Resilience.
