Tarini Mehta is a scholar and advocate specialising in environmental and human rights law. She teaches environmental law at the Jindal School of Environment and Sustainability, OP Jindal Global University, where she is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.

She completed her doctorate in international environmental law from Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law . Her thesis focused on environmental governance of the Himalayan region. Prior to this she completed an LLM in international law from University of Cambridge, her LLB from University of Warwick, and Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (Hons) from University of Delhi (India).

She spent time as a Visiting Scholar at University of Columbia and University of Pennsylvania. She has been connected with various organisations as a legal consultant with various organisation, including the UK National Focal Point for the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency, Lawyers Collective, Indian Council for Enviro-Legal Action.

She has also worked with the Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature in New York, contributing to research, as well as organising seminars on climate change policy and nature-based solutions for climate change during the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in July 2019 and the United Nations High-Level Week in September 2019.
