Yasuko Hassall Kobayashi is Associate Professor in the College of Global Liberal Arts at Ritsumeikan University, Japan and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the School of Culture, History and Language at ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.

Her research specialises in migration and disasters, Japan and Australian transnational connections during the Second World War, war migration, minorities in Asia and the Pacific, and post-colonial studies more broadly.
