New dams are there for when the rain finally does come, so that we have capacity to get us through the next and subsequent droughts. Obviously. Why do I need to explain that?

The key question then is when and whether the longer term and multifaceted phenomenon of drought is recognised, and a more integrative solution is chosen over the piecemeal and reactive interventions. As a researcher on science-policy interface, I think the research community also has role to beyond presenting facts and offering a critique of policy narratives. Policy action labs and incubation hubs could help better educate policy makers (this is at least what we found in a research in Nepal’s forest policy domain – details here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1389934119303569

I think we should stop supply of water to Parliament Houses while they are sitting for 6-8 hours. A few non flushes might give them the idea.

How many MPs could cope for more than one week? NSW MPs would of course fly in, fly out, and then tell us about the wonderful experience!
