The 2015 Narayanan Oration is presented by The Australia South Asia Research Centre. This year the lecture will be delivered by Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson and Managing Director of Biocon Limited, India. The topic of the lecture will be innovating for growth: building India-Australia high-tech business cooperation through start-ups.

The annual Narayanan Oration is an important event in The Australia National University’s calendar. This oration series honours India’s past-President, Dr K R Narayanan. The current President of India sends a forwarding message to be read out just prior to the oration by India’s High Commissioner in Canberra. Thus the oration provides Australian audiences an invaluable link to Indian policymakers at the very highest level.

Ms Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson and Managing Director of Biocon Limited, is a successful technocrat of global standing. Ms Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw heads India’s leading biopharmaceutical enterprise, Biocon. She is highly respected in the corporate world and has been named among TIME magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People in the World.’ She has also featured in Fierce Biotech’s list of ‘World’s 25 Most Influential People in Biopharma’ and is recognised among Forbes ‘100 Most Powerful Women’ globally.
