This breakfast event is presented by ANU Crawford School of Public Policy and UNSW Canberra Public Service Research Group.
Effective implementation of policy, strategy or practice change requires an understanding of the whole (and often complex) system under consideration. Increasing recognition of a need to generate detailed understandings of complex systems is taking place because of an increase in the number of observations of unintended, and potentially, serious and irreversible consequences for the outcomes, agents or structures of sub systems modified without an understanding of the whole system.
This breakfast will bring together two international experts on methodologies to discuss how we increase our understanding of systems by developing new and combining existing methods to ‘look at the whole’. Specific case examples developed by the group will be used to ensure real world application and transferability.
