ADB’s flagship economic publication Asian Development Outlook 2016 (ADO) provides a comprehensive analysis of macroeconomic issues in developing Asia, including growth projections by country and region. Asia’s growth pace has declined since the global financial crisis leading some pundits to dub the situation the ‘New Normal.’ This year’s ADO theme: Asia’s Potential Growth, explores the extent that this growth deceleration can be seen as a drop in the region’s productive capacity, and offers policy advice to counteract the slowdown.

The ADO presentation by Joseph Zveglich, Director of the ADB’s Macroeconomics Research Division of the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department will address:

• Economic prospects for developing Asia and the Pacific
• Impact of China’s slowdown on the region
• Risk of falling producer prices for growth
• Factors underlying the current decline in potential growth
• Approaches to boosting future growth potential

Christopher Edmonds, Senior Economist of the ADB’s Pacific Department will discuss developments and forecasts for the Pacific region.

Joseph Zveglich manages the macroeconomics research division of the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department. Mr Zveglich oversees the preparation of the annual Asian Development Outlook and the Asian Development Outlook Update. He also chairs the Regional Economic Outlook Task Force, which advises ADB management on Developing Asia’s economic prospects.

Christopher Edmonds manages much of the Pacific Department’s economics research, including the Pacific Economic Monitor. He also manages a number of technical assistance projects, assists project teams preparing ADB loan and grant projects, and serves as Chair of ADB’s Interdepartmental Impact Evaluation Committee.
