ANU Crawford School of Public Policy presents
Greening Asia’s economic development
17th March 2020
2.00 pm - 3.30 pm
Seminar Room 1, Stanner Building #37, Lennox Crossing, ANU
Associate Professor Paul Burke, ANU
Asia is facing serious environmental challenges including urban air pollution and global climate change. As the largest emitter of greenhouse gases, what happens in Asia will play a crucial role in determining the extent to which the world warms over coming decades.
This seminar will review key environmental challenges faced by the region and the growing opportunities for a transition to a cleaner economy powered by zero-emission energy sources. Economic mechanisms – including emissions pricing, reverse auctions, and green certificates schemes – have the potential to underpin a much greener development model for the Asian Century.
