All other people are idiots when he states:
“we must not let our children, grandchildren, and further generations to come, who have nothing to do with that war, be predestined to apologise. Still, even so, we Japanese, across generations, must squarely face the history of the past. We have the responsibility to inherit the past, in all humbleness, and pass it on to the future.”
He did not say the truth: There must be preconditions if one did not pass his/her punishments to offsprin. That is the forebears must thoroughly confess and apologize to their crimes. And the inflicters must compensate all victims. Can some one crystalize any clue Mr. Abe addressed the two preconditions?
So from Abe’s address, we only saw his self defense other than any genuine repentance, apology…

Without the imprisoning of Chiang Kai Shek the Nationalist would not have fought the Japanese (Reference Soong Ching Ling involvement in The Xi’an Incident of December 1936) . For many years the Red Army in China’s North East was virtually the only opposition to the Japanese. Mao lead another branch of the Communist army which as you correctly stated avoided as much as possible contact with the Japanese. However many communists died before and during the time the nationalists were fighting the Japanese. Finally as both Nationalist and Communists fought in the same units during this time how you came to assess the numbers of nationalist to die I am not quite sure
