History has been a learning process, for the Pacific people that all external threats such as now the COVID-19 pandemic, need a strong superpower such as the US to play a pivotal role in either its containment or defence.
US Presidential elections has always been full of flavour and the democratic processes remains a major victory all the time which is my biggest takeaway and I would like to believe that the Pacific region will continue to be a good friend with shared ownership of its overall security.
I believe that the opportunity is always there for the Pacific region to benefit from after every new elected government in the US, whether its in trade, economy, diplomacy, technological, military cooperation, even the old green pasture interests to enhance family security and welfare.
I have no reservations for the Biden-Harris leadership even though I quite liked Trump on his bold Israeli backing but the American citizens have spoken and everyone should respect the democratic processes of the US.
In the meantime I believe that we need to build on multilateralism, a multilayered country-country cooperation that share common interests in the fight against corruption, drugs, bullying, all forms of violence, climate change, COVID-19 and other viruses, racism, terrorism, WMD, and all forms of indiscriminate wars.
Finally I recommend that whlist we have our own views on how this new US administration will work on in the next 4 years, we all should continue to buildup a strong network of nations that mutually understand, respect and trust each other regardless of colour, creed, race, nationality, financial status or geographical location for an inclusive vision that secures our future generations.
