ANU Indonesia Update 2022

Gender relations reveal ever-moving fault lines in a society – their complexity demands nuance, care, and a multidimensional lens that puts in focus all the economic and social factors affecting them.

Indonesia is no exception to this.

Since the fall of Indonesia’s Suharto regime in the late 1990s, various social, political and economic forces have shaped relations between genders and how equality is challenged, realised, and restricted.

This year’s ANU Indonesia Update hopes to unpick and examine the interwoven threads running through contemporary Indonesian society. In the days leading up to the conference, Policy Forum will harness the insight of its speakers, along with expert contributors from around the region, to reveal the role gender plays in Indonesia’s national tapestry.

We hope you find the contributions valuable, and we invite you to join in the conversation.
