The previous iteration expired in 2015 and a new plan that builds off the Boe Declaration would be a valuable means to ensure that the implicit gender dimension of the Declaration gets some traction. Without a clear and specific accountability framework there is a very good chance that the central place of women as agents of enhanced peace and security will (yet again) be forgotten.
