It is imperative that while OBOR might claim ‘regional development’ as its motive, it is aligned to China’s interests – it does not make sense for China to invest money in other countries’ development, unless again, they see some long-term benefit accruing. By being part of it, India risks becoming a dump for China’s exports and even a facilitator for China to expand its footprint in the Indian Ocean, something it has been vociferously working against, on various fronts. However slow and lumbering it might be, the elephant needs to define and invest in its own initiatives, some of which you’ve mentioned above, instead of trying to piggyback on the dragon and burning itself.

i don’t know why india is up to cotton road, mausam, spice road etc. india is neither biggest producer/trader/energy consumer nor has money to invest them.
india must accept china’s “project kolkata”.
